The Rockland Residency will offer three-week residencies from October 8, 2025, to October 29, 2025, and from January 8, 2026, to January 29, 2026, to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators in the Rockland Woods, located on the Kitsap Peninsula across the Salish Sea from Seattle. Writers who are at least 25 years old and are not enrolled in a creative writing program are eligible. Residents are provided with private or shared living and working spaces in several facilities, including lodge bedrooms, canvas tents (available only during the fall), a lodge basement with sliding doors and a lake view, a 1948 vintage trailer with a writing table and bed, a barn studio apartment, and other barn-style studios. Each resident is assigned lodging according to availability and stated living and working needs. Lodging at the residency is free; the fee to cover the cost of family-style meals for the duration of the residency is $300 per resident. To apply for either the fall or winter residency, writers submitted 5 to 20 pages of poetry, prose, or work in translation with a $25 application fee by March 31. Visit the website for an application form and complete guidelines.
